(June 17)--The branch of China Netcom in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, kicked off officially the integration with China Unicom. All employees of the branch started to subscribe to mobile phone service offered by China Unicom.
Lately China Netcom required all of its employees to use CDMA mobile phones and subscribe to GSM network of China Unicom on the eve of the merger between the two telecom giants. By the end of May 30, most staff of China Netcom had got 156-prefixed telephone numbers of China Unicom.
A large number of employees of China Netcom used to be subscribers of China Mobile, the biggest mobile telecom carrier in the world. Such move of China Netcom will increase the customer turnover rate of China Unicom. In addition, it will increase the number of GSM subscribers of China Unicom.
In terms of a notice released by China Netcom, it requires its staff and branches to make cooperation with China Unicom across the board, jointly attracting big clients. As of the middle of June, all sales outlets of China Netcom will kick off GSM subscription service.
