China Unicom Revenues Up 3%

China Unicom Ltd, the second-largest mobile operator in China behind China Mobile, said revenues reached RMB52.48 billion for the first three quarters of 2008, up by 3.0% from the same period of last year. For the first three quarters of 2008, profit for the period was RMB6.99 billion compared with RMB 5.18 billion a year earlier.

The company completed its merger with fixed-line service provider China Netcom in September 2008. The average minutes of usage (“MOU”) per subscriber per month were 247.3 minutes and the average revenue per subscriber per month (“ARPU”) was RMB42.8. Service revenue from long distance, data and Internet business was RMB3.99 billion, up by 5.6% from the same period of last year.
